The Traditional Ruler of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Achebe has announced the endorsement of Ofala Onitsha as a major Nigeria festival for tourism purpose by the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation.
Obi Achebe announced this during the 2019 Ofala Festival of Onitsha, ADO N’IDU Kingdom.
Igwe Achebe who is the Chairman Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, in his address during the 18th Ofala Festival, noted that Ofala Onitsha hence forth will be a Tourist Centre for the whole World.
The Obi of Onitsha warned against, drug addiction, cultism and violence, noting that the youth as the hope of the Nation must be meaningfully engaged.
He further commended the State and Federal governments for their commitment towards the development of the State but stressed the need for more improvement.
On his part, the Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Uchenna Okafor while felicitating with the Onitsha Monarch, advised traditional rulers across the South East States to contribute positively towards preserving the Igbo culture.
Also speaking, the traditional ruler of Atani, Igwe Augustine Azuka Ngoddy who noted that Igwe Achebe has remained outstanding in his dealings with Igbo culture, expressed the hope that the younger generation will be able to keep the flag flying very high and prayed for longevity of Obi Achebe for him to continue to restore the values of Ndi Igbo.
