NGO Hosts Children’s Day Celebration for Orphanage Kids

Children in Model Community Children’s Orphanage Home, Ifite, Awka, Anambra State on Monday, 27 May, 2019 joined their counterparts in the state and other parts of the Nation to celebrate the children’s Day which was organized for them by Okolo Cajetan Foundation.

The fun-filled celebration which started with a Holy Mass was held at the orphanage Home located at Real Estate, Awka, featured games, quiz, puzzles and other activities was geared at assisting the children in the home to develop optimally especially as it concerns their analytical and creative minds.

Fides observed that children in the home were thrilled as they celebrated and received various gifts to which the foundation took along during the visit in bid to commemorate the Children’s Day Celebration.

It should be recalled that Okolo Cajetan foundation which was solely established for orphan and vulnerable children, had giving assistance to Model orphanage home owned by the State Government among other daycare centers in the state since it came on board in2017.

Speaking to Fides, the Director of the NGO, Engr. Cajetan Okolo noted that motive behind the yearly children’s Day celebration organized by his foundation for children in the home was to show love to the children and enable them to fill the joy of the moment like other children living in their homes.

He appreciated the Coordinators and Care givers of the daycare center and encouraged them to take the children in the home like their own biological children by showing affection to the children who are in the home. He maintained that that love was required to ensure the holistic development of children in homes and beckoned on them to counsel the children with love.

He commended the Anambra State Government for the basis provision which they had been making for children in the home and disclosed the need for enrolment of the children in the home in conventional schools. He noted that the enrollent of the children from the orphanage would help them develop together with other children and develop self -worthy. He stressed that such association would help to remove inferiority complex and promote healthy academic competition between the day care centers and others living with their parents.

He also urged the Anambra State Government to improve the educational, medical, basic amenities, personnel (staff) training and the general welfare of the children in the government owned daycare homes.

He vowed that Okolo Cajetan Foundation would continue working tirelessly by supporting the Anambra State Government in the good work which they were doing for the children in the daycare centers to ensure that their future were protected.

Earlier in his Homily during the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Adolphus Obi charged the children to be of good conduct and develop creative ideas through what they were taught in the home. He praised the founder of the NGO for his contributions to humanity and called on others to develop the spirit of giving to those who they are more privileged than.
