COVID-19: Orumba South Rep Re-affirms Commitment to Qualitative Service

The Member Representing Orumba South Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Engr. Emmaunel Nwafor has reaffirmed his commitment to qualitative service to the people of Orumba South.
The House Member disclosed his steady commitment to the people through the various activities and programmes embarked upon at the heat of coronavirus pandemic to avert the spread of the virus within the constituency.

Fides observed that Hon. Nwafor during the sensitization exercise on the preventive measures against Covid-19, distributed sanitary materials to constituents and created hand wash points in all the communities within his constituency and extended same to all traditional rulers in Orumba South. The provision of sanitary materials was subsequently followed by distribution of relief materials to household in pitiable conditions.

Addressing the people at the constituency office, Hon Nwafor, emphasized on the need for people to comply with the various preventive measures outlined by WHO in the fight against Covid-19. He urged them to ensure effective and regular use of the sanitary materials provided, noting that the use of face masks, regular hand washing, hand sanitizer usage and observance of social distance rule must be adopted by all persons in the constituency.

Hon. Nwafor explained that the lockdown order issued by the Governor was part of the State government's measures to curtail the spread of the virus which he described as Man's greatest threat. He disclosed the efforts which the state government was making to bring an end to the scourge and urged all to heed to the government directives.

He identified representation as one of the three cardinal responsibilities of a lawmaker as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and noted that the proper sanitization of his constituents was part of his obligation as representative. He maintained that it was important for all to join hands with relevant authorities irrespective of their religious, political, social and ethnic background for the eradication of the virus that threatens collective existence of humanity.

'At this point we must join hands with relevant authorities, to work hand in hand, irrespective of our religious, political, social and ethnic background, to fight the biggest war that threatens our collective existence'. The government of Anambra State is partnering with medical experts in the health sectors to discover, develop and deploy a solution to this scourge. I urge you all to heed to government directives at this critical period. Let's all suffer ourselves today to be alive tomorrow by staying at home to be safe' he advised.

Hon. Nwafor who chairs the House Committee on Tourism and Diaspora in the State Assembly, inaugurated the Orumba South Convid-19 Intervention Team at the sensitization exercise.

He charged the committee to work round the clock in all the communities and to report all suspected cases to the appropriate authorities to ensure that people comply with the State government directives for victims to be taken appropriate center where necessary.

Nwafor who also doubles as the Chairman of Covid-19 Intervention Team in Orumba South said that appropriate surveillance had been mounted at the boundaries between Anambra State and other states that exists within Orumba South Constituency.
