The Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Anaocha Chapter has extolled the chairman of the Local Government Council, Hon. Engr. Ikeobi Ejiofor (KSJI), for what the union described as the chairman's commitment to the welfare of the union and that of the member.
Speaking to Fides at the Anaocha Local Government Secretariat, Neni, recently, the Chairman, NUP, Anaocha Chapter, Comrade Bede Anyika, said Hon. Ejiofor had stood tall on his benevolence and friendly attitude towards the union since the inception of his office till date.
According to Anyika, 'Ejiofor's concern over the affairs of the pensioners in the local government has been considered as unparalleled in the history of the Union's existence in Anaocha L.G.A. His administrative and organizational styles, had positively impacted the pensioners such that the union has a marveled personal relationship with him'.
Comrade Anyika, who recalled on one of the early monthly sessions of the union, when participants arrived, met the venue well decorated with canopies, and thought it was an attempt to drive them away from their usual venue. But unknown to the union, the LG Chairman, Ejiofor had directed that the venue be decorated and made conducive for her meeting.
He said Hon. Ejiofor had in his continued goodwill, organized brief sessions with the union as well as provided with items for refreshment and funds for the participants' transport fare.
The union through her president described Ejiofor as a chairman that had a human face, saying that the success of the pensioners' annual verification exercises in the local government was due to his concern and compassionate attitude to the pensioners, despite their health status.
Pointing out that the Hon Ikeobi Ejiofor-led Anaocha Administration had continued to give the NUP her pride of place in the local government, the Union equally commended the LG boss for the modern podium he built in 2018, which serves as an event centre in the local government. According to the union, the said podium had been serving as her temporary meeting place since the many requests for a land to build a secretariat for the Anaocha NUP had not gotten a favourable approval from both the past and present administrations.
Anyika added that Ejiofor' benevolence was not limited to the union only, but also extended to other groups such as the NYSC, the Red Cross as well as the staff of the Local Government Council, who he said had been speaking well of the chairman's administration. The Union's chairman, who prayed God to bless Hon Ejiofor with success in his future endeavours, said NUP, Anaocha Chapter was appreciative of his goodwill.
