The atmosphere was that of joy and excitement in Omogho Community, Orumba North LGA, as they welcomed the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ANCSDA), to their community, for the Project Launch and funding of the approved Micro Projects (MPs).
In his welcome speech, the paramount ruler of Omogho Community, HRM Igwe Sir R.N. Offor (Ide II of Omogho), expressed his joy and that of his community at the launch of the Micro Projects in their community, which, according to him, would usher in great development and empowerment of the poor community members when fully completed.
In his speech, the General Manager, ANCSDA, Mr Chudi Mojekwu, thanked the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, for ensuring that Community and Social Development Project-Additional Financing (CSDP-AF) became operative in the state and also thanked the Omogho Community for their efforts and cooperation with ANCSDA, which, he said, culminated in the approval and funding of the MPs in their community.
The GM revealed that the two MPs approved for implementation in Omogho Community were construction of Youth Corps Members' Quarters, and installation of transformer, poles and wires (Rural Electrification) at a total cost of Nine Million, Five Hundred and Eighty-Nine thousand, Six Hundred and Fifty Naira.
Highlights of the occasion were the signing of Project Financing Agreement between the Omogho Community represented by the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) chairman, and the ANCSDA represented by the GM, Mr Mojekwu, as well as the presentation of cheque to the 1st Tranche (30% of micro project sum) to the CPMC chairman by the GM ANCSDA.
Also speaking at the event, the Operations Manager, ANCSDA, Mrs Uche Nwaizugbo, urged the Omogho CPMC members to ensure efficient and effective utilization of the funds released for the MP implementation as, according to him, CSDP-AF did not entertain cost variation.
The Vice President General of Omogho, Hon. Pindal Nwankwo, thanked the ANCSDA for their commitment in ensuring that the community benefited from the project intervention of CSDP, especially the Construction of Corps Members' Quarters which, he said, would help to improve the quality of education available to the children of the poor community members.
In their separate vote of thanks and closing speeches, the Omogho CPMC Chairman, Chief Engr, F.O.Anyanechi promised on behalf of all the CPMC members to judiciously use the funds to implement the approved MPs for their community; while the LG Desk Officer (LGDO) Orumba North LGA, Mrs Calista Nwankwo, promised on behalf of the LG chairman, to give the necessary support to Omogho Community in ensuring the successful implementation and sustainability of the MPs.
