Ikebudu House Lifts BMGS 2019 Trophy

Ikebudu House has lifted the overall champion trophy in the 2019 Annual inter House Sports C Competition of Bubendorff Memorial Grammar School (BMGS) Anaocha L.G.A, Anambra state. In the finals of the competition held at the school field on March, 23rd 2019, Ikebudu Green and white house defeated the other 15 houses and emerged the overall champion, while Engr Theodore Ezekwe House and Barr Harry Udu House got 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

The sports competition was in line with the consistent efforts of the management to avail students the opportunity of developing skills in various sports activities to achieve holistic training. The healthy participation among the students who were allotted to various houses, namely, Fr Aaron Ekwe, Prof Emenike Obi house, Chief Ilozumba house, Theodore Ezekwe house, Sir Victor Umeh house, Barr Harry Udu house, Mr. Nnaemeka Obiakor house, Sir Ikechukwu Ikebudu house, Sir Ugonabo house, Chief Chukwudi Arachie house, Prof Augustine Obiekezie house, Chief Andy Umeoji house, Mr. Ejike Ezeokeke house, Hon Ikeobi Ejiofor house, Leo Ilozumba house and Hon Patrick Ubajaka house.

Fides gathered that the students during the preparation for the inter house sports competition were engaged in various intensive sporting activities in a bid to develop their sporty skills in any sport of their choice. They competed among themselves in Football, Volley ball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess, Draft, Relay race, Long jump, High jump, Shot-put , Javelin, 800mrace, 1,500m race, 400m race, 100m race,200m race and March past.

Speaking at the event, the school manager, Rev Fr Theodore Ekwem described sports as one of the extra-curricular activities embedded in the school programme to enhance student's emotional, physical and healthy wellbeing. He noted that the school sports programme offered a good foundation to some talented students to develop a future career in the area of sports.

The school inter house sports, according to the manger, was designed to be an avenue for discovering and developing various skills in students. He pointed out that discovering would facilitate the training of students to be physically fit and healthy.

In his address of welcome, Fr Ekwem commended the efforts of the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Paulinus Ezeokafor for his numerous contributions towards the school project. He appreciated Sir Victor Umeh for his tireless contribution and also thanked the Chairman of the occasion, Hon Patrick Ubajaka who has been a benefactor to the school. This was even as he commended all who have contributed to the growth of the school and prayed God to visit them in times of trouble.
