The Chief Fire Officer and Director Anambra State Fire Service, Engr. Martin Agbili, has been installed as the eleventh chairman of Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, Awka Branch,

Speaking shortly after the installation, Engr Agbili vowed to promote professionalism and synergy between the engineers and the government in Anambra State.

Agbili said the professional body would improve on its relationship with the state government, ministries, associations, residents and other key players in the field of engineering with a view to building a better society.

The new NSE boss who doubles as the state Fire Chief/Director, commended his predecessor on what he described as his numerous achievements in office, and solicited for members support in order to continue, consolidate and achieve more during his tenure.

Earlier in a remark, the outgone chairman, NSE, Awka Branch, Edmond Nkalu, said he kept all the promises, especially the one he made on assuming duty in 2016, among which were facilitating the moving of entry grade level of engineers from Grade Level 8 to Grade level 9, induction of 200 engineers and facilitation of their employment into service.

Nkalu also maintained that his administration engaged in public enlightenment, altruistic acts and acquiring a ten square meter of land for the building of an engineering village in the state.

The Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, who was represented by the Head of Service, Barr. Harry Udu, urged the engineers not to hesitate to call the government's attention to any aspect of the state infrastructure which, they believed, required improvement.

At least 33 new engineers were inducted into the society and several awards of excellence presented at the ceremony.
