The president general of Nimo Town Development Union, NTDU, Chief Sir Frank Anthony Igboka, has bagged the award of Hero of Njikoka. The colourful ceremony took place at Njikoka Local Government Secretariat, Abagana, Saturday January 26.

Speaking to Fides shortly after the award, Igboka, a one time member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, expressed delight at the award, describing it as a recognition of his past efforts to uplift the fortunes of his people.

The impressive ceremony attracted the crème de la crème of Njikoka, as well as friends of the council.

'I feel so happy that my people have been able to appreciate my humble contributions to their well being over the years. I particularly thank the organizers for this novel and wonderful initiative of appreciating people who have worked for the good of society. It is also a good thing that the awards were also extended to people beyond Njikoka, thus making it all encompassing,' Igboka gushed, stating that the award would only spur him into doing more for his people.

On the way to go in the 2019 general elections, Igboka said he was still studying the candidates and that at the appropriate time he would tell his people the way to go, pointing out that only candidates that had worked for the people and those with good pedigrees would be supported.

Igboka was among various individuals who were honoured by the Njikoka Local Government for their contributions to the development of the area.

Earlier in his address, the transition chairman of Njikoka, Hon Edozie George Ozoh, said the awards to various individuals were aimed at acknowledging what he termed the awardees' impeccable services and incomparable sacrifices over the years in public, community service and philanthropy.

He said their choices arose out of a thorough and painstaking process and tasked the awardees not to relent in their efforts but to strive to surpass what they had done.

Some of the other awardees included the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano; former Anmabr Governor, Peter Obi; the senatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, for Anambra Central, Senator Mrs Uche Ekwunife; the incumbent House member representing Njikoka 11 State Constituency, Sir Pete Ibida, as well as his Njikoka 1 counterpart, Hon Tim Ifediora.
