The Coalition of Anambra South Students, COASS, last Tuesday at Oko unanimously endorsed the senatorial candidate of Young Progressive Party (YPP), Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah for the Anambra South Senatorial Election.

Addressing newsmen at Oko, in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, the national coordinator of COASS, Comrade Kenneth Okeke (Kendo) said the body with the above caption was created to bring the students of Anambra South extraction together under one umbrella as one indivisible entity, noting that after careful examination and observation the body decided to throw its weight behind Dr. Ifeanyi whom they described as more qualified and better positioned candidate.

According to the COASS's coordinator, Anambra South Senatorial Zone had a good number of influential men in terms of finances and connections, saying that they were blessed with abundance wealth capable of changing the infrastructural deficiencies and wealth capable of giving an average Anambra South Student a meaningful educational bursaries and scholarships to cushion the effects of educational challenges in our various families.

He said the 2019 general elections was around the corner and that had availed them the opportunity to support and vote credible individual whom they said would offer them better representation.

'It is yet another opportunity for us to choose who will represent us. We, as students have decided that we must never sit on the fence anymore and watch our common destinies be taken away by leaders that do not deserve our votes. We have been roundly and poorly represented for many years now.

'Today, we are witnesses to the type of leaders that are in charge of our senatorial Zone. Our people are yearning for a leader with a heart to turn things around in the area. Today, we have come together to make a statement that, we have resolved to pledge our support and loyalty to a candidate we have followed his footprints for too long.

'A candidate we have seen his love for the youths. A candidate, whose impacts in the lives of the youths, the elderly, and most importantly, society at large, is beyond measure. In him, we have seen hope, in him we have seen political independence, in him, we have seen an ability to push despite all odds and that is the life of an average Nigerian youth and students. That candidate is Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah (Ebubechukwuzo Nnewi),' he announced.

Okeke said they would match their collective decision with action, emphasizing that they must continue to work until victory was assured.

'At this time in history, what shall speak is individual capacity not party affiliation. What shall speak is the ability of the candidate to speak for his people and not any other thing. Our resolve is that, we shall work to deliver Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah. In the next coming days and weeks, our programmes of events shall be made public as we move on,' Okeke concluded.
