In line with the CBCN efforts at engaging the people in the media and entertainment industry in its work of evangelization, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most. Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor inaugurated the Catholic Actors and Entertainers Association of Nigeria (CAEAN) at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Awka, last week Sunday 9th December 2018.
The Bishop who was represented by the Cathedral Administrator, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Matthew Attansey called on CAEAN members to be ready to teach and educate the people. He said that being versatile in their teaching should be one of their skills and objectives in the foundation of the association. He decried of the high rate of cultism displayed in the present music, plays and movies and called on CAEAN members to lay positive impact in their teachings to the society.
Drawing a cue from the readings, the administrator preached on the essence of love and forgiveness. He said that the greatest problem in Nigeria is man's inhumanity to man and provided five gears to forgiveness.
After the homily, candles of light were presented to each members of CAEAN and they were inaugurated after some prayers were said upon them. The certificate from the National body was presented to them through the National representative, Charles Okwuowulu.
Present in the occasion was the Director of Social Communications, Awka Diocese, Rev. Fr. Martin Anusi, who has been a guardian to the association . It should be recalled that CAEAN is one of the arms of SIGNIS- NIGERIA which serves as an umbrella for all Catholics in the entertainment industry such as actors, actresses, musicians, movie producers, comedian, DJs etc.
