The former Governor of Anambra State and the Vice Presidential Candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Peter Obi, a Papal Knight, was among those recently received in audience from across the world by Pope Francis in Vatican City.
On his mission to the Holy See, Obi said that besides seeing the Pope, he took the opportunity to join in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the priestly ordination of Francis Cardinal Arinze, whom he earlier referred to as Nigeria's worthy and exemplary export to the Universal Church and the whole world.
In what he discussed with the Pope, the visibly happy Obi said that it was more of a spiritual encounter.
'To offer you a glimpse of what the visit was like or what it achieved, I requested prayers from the Pope for myself, Nigerians, and Nigeria, especially at this transition time,' Obi said.
According to him, the pontiff assured him that it was always good to remind him of his primary responsibility even though he would never forget that.
'Ever humble and with amazing comeliness, the Pope requested prayers for him as well,' Obi stated.
