Anambra State CSDA Undertake Project Field Appraisal In Rural Communities

The picture of ANCSDA Field Appraisal visit to Ugbenu Community, Awka-North LGA to inspect the site for the proposed Rehabilitation and Construction of Secondary school classroom blocks. The Field team comprises the Mgt and Technical Officers of the ANCSDA as well as Technical personnel from the LGA and the relevant MDAs.

Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ANCSDA) is an Agency of Anambra State Govt. set up to carry out Community and Social Development Project (CSDP). CSDP is a World Bank assisted project which aims at poverty reduction in rural communities through Community Driven Development (CDD) approach.

According to the information from the Communication Officer, ANCSDA, Nnamdi Onuzulike, the State Agency has successfully had its first community entrance project activities in all the interested communities in the five (5) local LGAs ie. Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum, Awka-North, and Orumba-North LGAs. Such activities as Community sensitization, Socio-Economic profiling of the Community's existing infrastructures, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) in which the Community members identify and prioritize their needs for CSDP Intervention and the election of the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) that will monitor and execute the micro projects.

As part of the major requirements for the approval of the Community Development Plan (CDP) made up of micro projects to be executed, a technical team comprising the management and some Technical officers of the agency as well as technical personnel from the LGAs, relevant MDAs etc. took part in the Field Appraisal (FA) visit at the proposed sites for the micro projects in ten (10) communities namely Ugbenu, Enugwu-Aguleri, Nando, Nsugbe, Umueri, Omogho, Umu-eze Anam, Umumbo, Nanka and Ndikelionwu. The proposed micro projects are in different sectors such as Health, Education, Water Resources, Rural Electrification, Transport, Socio Economic, Environment/Natural Resources, Gender and Vulnerable.

The FA team was led by the General Manager, ANCSDA, Mr Chudi Mojekwu, who expressed satisfaction with the overall success of the Field visits and promised to ensure speedy implementation of the micro projects by the communities once the World Bank gives a “No Objection” approval for the CDP implementation.
