The Anambra State Head of Service (HOS), Barr. Harry Udu, recently received the Integrity Stewardship Award from the members of Advocacy for Peace and Value Re-Orientation Organization for his outstanding leadership in service
The Advocacy for Peace and Value Re-Orientation Organization is a non-governmental and professional volunteer group working towards a corrupt-free society and promoting ethical leadership.
Presenting the award the Executive Director of the organization, Mr. Abraham Abubakar, said that part of the organization's programme was to inculcate the zeal for selfless service and exposure of corrupt practices, noting that the organization was aimed at rewarding the most service-oriented leaders through a well conducted Confidential Independent Assessment.
Abubakar noted that their assessment targeted outstanding citizens and selfless politicians whose actions and words connoted integrity and true service to humanity.
He emphasized that the assessment exercise was conducted through opinion polls, questionnaires and interviews with informants on any personality under study.
He explained that the assessment conducted on Barr. Harry Udu was successful, saying that he (Uduh) came out outstanding as the most 'Ethical Responsible Personality'.
He listed other areas where the Head of Service performed to include display of ethical leadership, development policy performance, commitment to state government's transformation and obedience to the rule of law.
He said the HOS had been instrumental in the area of sound and effective civil service development policies.
Responding, Barr. Harry Udu thanked the team for finding him worthy to receive the award.
He dedicated the award to Gov. Willie Obiano and to diligent workers, who, he said, worked tirelessly for effective service delivery.
'I am happy because you are doing this advocacy for the good of the country.
Dedicating yourselves and time to this cause of advocacy is something exceptional and worthy of commendation.
'The office of the HOS is a leadership and coordinating office that galvanizes the entire workforce and public service is the engine that sustains government policies,' he said.
Udu, however, urged them to continue staying focused in the course of advocacy to make things right as nation building was a collective affair.
For his part, the Acting Director, Public Service Office (PSO), Mr. Adebayo Ojeyinka, commended the team for their efforts in compilation and finding the HOS worthy of the award.
Ojeyinka described the HOS as an indefatigable and humble personality that had the interest of the state workforce at heart.
'We are very proud and inspired to have Udu as our Head of Service,' Ojeyinka said.
