The Transition Chairman of Aguata Local Government Council, Hon. Eche Ezeibe has handed over a modern Health Centre that was re-built by the local government to Uga Community, for optimum health benefits of the people.
Speaking at the official commissioning and hand over of the Awarasi Health Post, Uga, Aguata L.G.A, Anambra State recently, Hon. Eche Ezeibe said the rebuilding of the once dilapidated health centre, was borne out of the community's need for a quality and functional health post as pointed out by the member representing Aguata I Constituency, Hon Ikechukwu Umenwa.
Pointing out that rebuilding of the health post was in line with his administration's commitment to ensure effective health care service delivery within the council area, Ezeibe called on the President General (PG) of the Town and the leadership of the community at large to ensure that the facility is fully exploited by the community members, and properly maintained to serve the people better.
This was even as he charged the nurses and other health workers on their availability, and also put in their best to ensure that the people of the community have access to the quality health care they anticipated from the centre.
Ezeibe, who promised to look into other needs of the town as requested by the PG, assured Uga people of prompt delivery of democracy dividends due to them.
In his remarks, an illustrious son of Uga and the member representing Aguata I Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Umenwa, extolled the Aguata LG boss and his team for the prompt and timely intervention which made the rebuilding of the Awarasi Health Post within a short while possible.
The visibly delighted Umenwa, who had appealed to the local government to come to the rescue of the community over the previously dilapidated health centre, commended the current Aguata LG administration and Gov Obiano-led Anambra State Government for their listening ears and commitment to grassroot development. He promised the health post a donation of new power generating centre for regular power supply.
On his part, the President General (PG) of Uga Town Union, Dr. Anthony Ekesiobi, commended the Aguata Local Govt Administration for the government presence it attracted to the community through the reconstructed health post and the Uga Ultra-Modern Market which has remained a world class.
Dr. Ekesiobi, who also extolled Hon. Umenwa for his quality representation which has attracted democracy dividends to the town, pledged Uga's unlimited support to Aguata LG and Anambra State Government.
The traditional ruler of Uga, Igwe Chidi Stephen Ezenwugo, assured that the health facility would be properly maintained and utilised for the health needs of the people. He thanked Hon. Ezeibe for the reconstruction of the Awarasi Health Post, and requested for provision of more primary health centres in the town so as to meet the health needs of the teeming masses. This was even as he called for more and stable democracy dividends in Uga.
In her reaction, the Community Health Officer in-charge, Mrs Chinememma Okpala-Nwankwo, appreciated the Hon Ezeibe-led Aguata LG administration for that show of goodwill and generousity.
Mrs. Okpala-Nwankwo, who was joyous said, 'When I was transferred to work here, the structure I met was discouraging. I met a practically dilapidated building without doors, windows, ceilings and damaged floors. In fact, it was an ugly sight to behold. We needed help, and Hon Ezeibe came to our rescue, and re-built the health post for us. I am very happy today. I thank the LG boss for his kind assistance and pray God to bless him'.
She appealed to the government and well-meaning individuals to assist the health centre with the provision of needed equipment and facility for optimum health care delivery.
