The farmers, who called on the government to provide enduring solution to incessant flooding in the town and other communities in the state, if such if continued it, would lead to loss of many lives, property and farm produce.
They decried hunger which would be experienced by many in the state next year due to the loss of farm produce among which were rice, cassava and yam worth Millions of Naira to the devastating flood.
When Fides visited the flooded farm lands, some farmers were seen ferrying through their farm lands with canoes. Some of the neighbouring communities like Ugbene were also affected as their farmers also lost their farm produce to the flood.
One of the farmers, who doesn't want his name in print also decried the difficulties the members of the community encounter due to the bad state of the Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Ugbene- Awba-Ofemili Road, saying the said road had continued to deteriorate since no further work has been done on it after the one carried out by the former Anambra State Administration.
