Hello, I’m Tessie Nkechi Udegboka, fondly called Ada Africa. I am a beneficiary of multiple global opportunities that have taken me to 24 countries. I am an Empowerment Strategist, Counselor, Enterprise Developer Leadpreneur, Creative Writer and Designer.
I am certified in Entrepreneurship Management from both Northwestern University, USA and Pan Atlantic University, Lagos. I underwent an Executive Program on Non-Profit Leadership and Management from the Lagos Business School and University of Georgia. I acquired other developmental skills in Journalism, Women & Youth Development etc.
I have been shortlisted for various opportunities where I found out I was the only one either from my tribe, state or country. I have won various opportunities which includes Virgin Nigeria awards that took me on a research project in South Africa, European AIDS Clinical Society Scholarship to Germany, International Conference on Urban Health scholarship to Brazil and Kenya, IAS to Italy and South Africa, TechCamp West Africa in Ghana and various others that all together have taken me to 24 countries. Funding from various US organizations, DFID (UK], Federal Government of Nigeria and private sectors.
For nine years, I have worked across the globe, promoting global opportunities for young people. As a beneficiary of many of these global opportunities. I have mentored and helped youths who are today employable, setting up enterprise, working with ICT, and mentoring others. In 2021, I helped my clients raise over $184,000 in funding for their startups.
All these opportunities, I secured them by applying for them and not by contact, connection or knowing someone that knows someone. They were all purely by merit. I have also been a reviewer of similar applications at the global level. I’ve reviewed startups submissions for funding and fellowship programs. I have written scientific papers that got accepted for presentation in 11 International Conferences in which I was awarded scholarships to travel and present the papers.
I am the Executive Director of WHAIafrica, a capacity building organization focus on improving lives of women and youth in the slum/rural communities. We also have a Creative Hub where we discover talents of young persons and set them up to start making sustainable means of income utilizing their talents and abilities.
L2G with Ada Africa is here to guide you on how to become high achieving youth, have a global identity, secure grants, business funding, get into fellowship programs, and other partially funded global opportunities. Some youths are giving up because they have applied several times and weren’t shortlisted. Don’t give up, this L2G exposes tips on how to prepare winning applications/submissions. I will be listing out current relevant grants, training, entrepreneurship, scholarships opportunities, explaining guidelines and tips to making a successful application. You have the opportunity to ask all burning questions via email or Whatsapp and as well via WHAIafrica social media pages.
My bad spot, I am allergic to lazy youths and illegal quick money syndrome. So if you do not want to follow the due process, commit to the details in grabbing the opportunities, or are not passionate about your cause, needless walking along with me on this journey. I am highly passionate about Africa and desire to empower more Africans so we all can build strong institutions that will transform our society.
