During the homily, Most Rev. Peter Ebere Okpaleke, Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia, assured the Bishop that he has no reason to fear.
‘Do not look back on your vocation. You have done well in the various areas of previous assignment. You have no reason to fear,’.
He urged the new bishop to avoid all lures of worldly attraction but to live a life worthy of God’s servant, life built on love, faith and humility. He also charged the members of the congregation to rely on God and not put their trust in man.

In an Interview with Fides Media, when asked what his parting gift to Awka Diocese will be, he said ‘It is difficult to give a parting speech. Even in my Inaugural Speech, I referred to Awka Diocese as our diocese. It is only prayers I ask of them and my prayers are with them as well,’.
