Sunday 2nd June, 2019 witnessed tremendous traffic as a gamut of personalities moved down to Neni, the Anaocha Local Government headquarter for the unveiling and launching of St John Innovation Institute Of Management and Technology, Neni, recently approved by the Federal Government.
In the Holy Mass attended by a lot of dignitaries, which included the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Chief Willie Obiano (Akpokuedike); the former Anambra State Governor, Sir Peter Obi, CON; the Senator – Elect, Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, Chief Sen Dr. Uche Ekwunife and Chief Sir Ikenna Okafor, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Most Rev. P. C. Ezeokafor, stressed the need for the federal government to give equal opportunity to all the tribes that belonged to the One Nigeria system of governance.
The Bishop, who initiated a Vocational Institute that metamorphosed into the Institute of Management and Technology, called on the government at all levels to give adequate attention to vocational, technical & innovative education for the redemption of the gory socio-economic state of our country.
In his response, Gov Willie Obiano of Anambra State, commended Bishop Ezeokafor for what he described as the bishop’s fore-sight in establishing the institution. He acknowledged the Rector of the Institute, Rev. Fr. FrancisMichael Enyosiobi (JesuNwannaa) whose effort saw the transformation of a Vocational Institute to a Federal Government Approved Innovation Institute of Management & Technology.
The governor commended his predecessor, Sir Peter Obi, CON, KSS, for his commitment to the earlier growth of the Institute. Gov Obiano responded fully to the present yearnings of the Institute as presented by the rector.
Speaking on the occasion, the former Governor of Anambra State and the PDP vice presidential candidate in the last presidential election, Sir Peter Obi, CON, commended the management for what he described as the substantial growth of the Institute, and promised his continuous support to the Institute.
He called on the government at all levels to pay more attention to education as it remained one of their primary responsibilities. Obi promised to ensure the provision of solar energy to power the institute through the institution’s electrical/ electronic department.
Also speaking, Chief Sen. Dr Uche Ekwunife, expressed her delight over the growth of the institute and the efforts of the rector, of Rev. Fr Francis Michael Enyosiobi who she described as a model Priest.
Chief Sir Ikenna Okafor (Ide Akwaeze) who identified himself as a lover of Education called on well-meaning citizens especially those of Neni to champion the tremendous growth of the institute, which he said was a great course for socio-economic development and human empowerment in the area.
Chief Ikenna Okafor crowned his speech with a donation of N10 million naira to emerge the highest single donor in the function.
Earlier in his address,the Rector, St John Innovation Institute of Management and Technology, Neni, Rev. Fr. Francis Michael Enyosiobi appreciated the past and present administrations of the state, using a slogan he described as P for Peter who planted, W for Wille who watered and G for God, who grants increase.
He appreciated the chairman of the occasion, Chief Sir Augustine Ibeme and all the stakeholders who had contributed to the structural development of the Institute for their goodwill.
Among others present at the event were the chairman of the Governing Board, Chief Sir Anthony Enukeme of Tonimas Group; Chief Engr. Paul Enidom of Paul-B Construction Ltd; Chief Sir Simeon Eyisi (Ezeana Omeleora Neni), the CEO of SIMS Nigeria Ltd.
Conferment of an Award of Excellence in Skilful Education and Human Empowerment on the Wife of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Her Excellency, Chief Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano and unveiling of the Institution by the proprietor and Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, were some of the highlights of the event.
