Governor Willie Obiano has expressed worry over the negative effect of Social Media in the present society.
Obiano who spoke during the state executive council meeting to unveil two books written separately by members of the executive council, said the effect of social media had negative effect on reading culture among youths.
The books are: ”Dispossessed”, written by the Chief Press Secretary to Obiano, Mr James Eze, and ”New Media and African Society” written by the State Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha.
The governor said that though the social media had its advantages, it should be used with caution, as according to him, poor reading culture caused examination failure.
While commending the authors of the books, Governor Obiano stressed that the State government rewarded ingenuity and hard work and canvassed support for them.
Professor Omenugha and Mr Eze were given opportunity to read from their new books to members of the State Executive Council.
