The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Anambra State Command, has secured 10 convictions in the month of March, 2019.
Sentencing the suspects to jail, Justice B O Quadri and I B Gafai of the Federal High Court, sitting in Awka, said the 10 drug suspects were guilty of different drug offences ranging from peddling, trafficking and abusing Cocaine, Heroin and Cannabis sativa.
In a release signed by the NDLEA State Commander Mr. Sule Momodu fsi, and made available to newsmen in Awka by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Odigie Charles Efosa said the suspects were arrested during raid operations carried out within the state and consequently charged to Court where the command obtained judgements against them.
Those arrested, tried and jailed included, Ossai Chima 24 years male was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment while Chibuzor Obiora 30 years, male would serve 2years jail term.
Also Kenneth Eze Okonkwo 47yrs male 5yrs imprisonment, Sunday Eze 25yrs male 2yrs imprisonment, Azubike Obieze 25yrs male 2yrs imprisonment,
Others included, Ifeanyi Nwodogwu 22yrs male 2yrs imprisonment, Nwachukwu Chekwube 22yrs male 2yrs imprisonment, Awelle Maduike 45yrs female 3yrs imprisoment, Samuel Godwin 27yrs male 2yrs imprisonment and Ifeanyi Ogbonna 39yrs male 1yr imprisonment.
Reacting to the judgement, the NDLEA State Commander Sule Momodu fsi, warned drug peddlers to desist from the sale, trafficking and abuse of hard drugs or faced the wrath of the law.
