The National Association of Catholic Corp (NACC) members, Batch B, Anambra State Chapter, September 8, honoured the former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi; the pioneer chaplain, Rev Fr Prof B.C.A. Obiefuna, and members of CWO Onitsha Archdiocese. The event which was held at the NYSC Camp in Umunya, Oyi L.G.A., Anambra State, is in appreciation to those that had contributed tirelessly for the corps members and for securing the permanent site for NYSC Camp which is located at Umuawulu-Mbaukwu, Awka South L.GA.

Leading in a Concelebrated Holy Mass, the pioneer chaplain, Rev Fr B.A.C. Obiefuna, stated that every September 8 was set aside for the birthday of the Blessed Mother, saying that Mary, as the universal queen, always interceded for her children who called upon her.

He recalled that in January 1997 when he was made the chaplain of NACC which lasted for over twelve years, many Catholic Corps members were joining other denominations, noting that he was moved to bring them back.

Fr Obiefuna said that he was able to secure a worship centre through the help of Fr Felix Nnamani who worked closely with him. He enjoined them on creativity in order to be their own bosses, saying that when they added discipline and focus in whatever they did, they would go a long way in achieving their goals.

He expressed displeasure over some youths who, he said, did not think about their future but only depended on what they would gain from their parents.

He advised them to make judicious use of their monthly allowances in order to invest in what would yield money for them. This was even as he advised them to profess their faith wherever they found themselves.

Fr Obiefuna commended the chaplain, Rev Fr Clement Muozoba, for his efforts and contributions.

For his part, the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, who was represented by the former Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Dr Edozie Aroh, stated that during his administration, they worked hard to make things easy for the corps members.

He said that money was awarded for the project of permanent site for the NYSC Camp located at Umuawulu-Mbaukwu. He commended the chaplain, Fr Muozoba, for his efforts and contributions to actualize the ongoing project.

Also speaking, the CWO Organizer, Onitsha Archdiocese, Mrs. Josephine Odu, commended the invitees for turning up for the event, not minding the bad condition of the road. She advised the corps members to be determined and focused, as well as working hard in all they did. This was even as she urged them to be of good behaviour wherever they would be posted for their PPA.

The Chaplain, NACC, Rev Fr Clement Muozoba, commended Rev Fr Prof B.A.C. Obiefuna for what he was able to achieve during his administration as the NACC chaplain and thanked him for his commitment and efforts in actualizing some of the projects in the camp.

He disclosed that the camp would be relocated to the permanent site, saying that they had been using the old camp for over twenty years.

Appreciating the CWO members for their support and contribution to them, Fr Muozoba described Obi as the best governor in Nigeria during his tenure, saying that Obi had contributed to the growth of the state and the youths as well.

Also speaking, Rev Fr Cletus Chukwuemeka, from Nnewi Diocese, thanked the guests for making out time to celebrate with them. He commended the CWO members for their support towards the youths and urged the corps members to rely on God and to identify themselves with any parish were they would be posted. He appreciated Fr Muozoba for his words of encouragement.
