The Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has expressed his gratitude to mothers for their generous and constant support to the Church. He said this while addressing some members of the Catholic Women Organization, CWO, who visited him at the Diocesan Catholic Secretariat, Awka, on Wednesday, 27th April 2022.
The Bishop used the opportunity to thank mothers for the great work they do in families and exhorted them not to relent especially in the face of the many challenges that were facing families in the society today. He harped on the importance of investing all we could in the training of children as a way to raise those that would be responsible sons and daughters for God and society.
The team was led by the Diocesan CWO President, Lady Sabina Ndigwe, with Life members and Ladies of Knight of St Mulumba.
The Bishop used the occasion to formally inform the CWO of the formal approval of Peter University, Achina/Onneh by the Federal Government, and thanked them for the vital role they played in the setting up of the university structures. It will be recalled that the CWO was among the major contributors to the university project.
During the visit the mothers presented gifts to the Bishop and some members of the curia.
Present with the Bishop during the visit were Very Rev. Fr Charles Ndubuisi, the Diocesan Chancellor; Fr Evaristus Ifeanacho, Bishop’s Secretary; Fr Michael Oguno, Diocesan Bursar; Fr Jonas Unegbu, CWO Chaplain; and Sr Mary Obichukwu, Sr Adviser.
