Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Youth Development, has concluded arrangements for effective commencement of various youth entrepreneurship and skill acquisition programmes across the 21 Local Government Areas.
Under the programme, youths are to be trained in their chosen skills, including furniture making, agro allied ventures, paint production, cosmetology, confectionery and metal fabrication.
Other areas are fashion designing, cinematography, automobile repairs, livestock, catering, leather works, solar power/CCTV installation, wall stencil, aluminum fabrication, beauty care and POP/wall screening.
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, said this during a meeting with coordinators of youth organizations drawn from all the LGAs, noting that the initiative would be implemented through government, private sector partnership.
‘I announce the commencement of the registration for business startup training programmes premised on the Vocational Entrepreneur Apprenticeship Model.
According to him, a publication has already been made for interested master-trainers for the various skill/entrepreneurship trainings to apply for immediate commencement of the programme.
‘The training will be strategically located in all communities across the local government in line with the agenda of raising 1000 millionaires every year.
‘We will embark on inspection of prospective trainers’ workshops, shops and centers, to ensure conformity to expected standard,’ he said.
While lauding Gov Chukwuma Soludo for effecting Youth Development budgetary increment from N500m to N2.5b, he urged youths to fully embrace the initiative by registering with Desk Officers in their LGAs.
‘Our Youth Desk Officers have been trained in ICT, equipped with laptops and deployed to the 21 local government areas to register trainees,’ he added.
