The only surviving Zikist, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, who was also Minister of Aviation in the First Republic, is dead.
Amechi, who died at the age of 93 years, was known for his interventions for Igbo land, including the demand for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, which he failed to realise before his death.
A press release by the family, announcing his death, and signed by Ezeana Tagbo Amechi, on Tuesday, stated that the Zikist died with the regret of not living to see the release of Kanu.
‘We thank God for the fulfilled life that he lived, the lives that he touched and his service to God and country. We respectfully ask
that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers at this time.
