A man identified as Chinasa Nnorom has allegedly killed his wife, Mrs Juliet Ogbodo, during a fight, after an altercation ensued between both of them in Nnewi, Anambra State.
Nnorom, a middle aged man, was said to have engaged his wife after a quarrel on Saturday, but shortly after the couple were separated, the wife started vomiting blood, and foaming in her mouth.
Ogbodo was said to have died shortly after, defying attempts by neighbours to revive her.
Fides gathered that she was rushed to Ikedife Hospital in Otolo Nnewi, not so far from her home, but was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty, upon arrival.
Sources around the residence of the couple said the body of the deceased was deposited at the morgue and awaiting autopsy.
The Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident, saying that police detectives attached to Central Police Station, Nnewi Division, had visited the area.
‘Our men were there and photograph obtained; and suspect arrested. Case is under investigation after which suspect will be charged to Court for prosecution,’ Haruna said.
This will be the fourth death resulting from domestic violence in Anambra State in less than two months, Fides gathered.
Recently, a 42 year-old man killed his mother, right before his younger brother, over plans to sell a landed property bequeathed them by their late father.
