Fides gathered that the incident happened at Okija Junction, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, last Sunday at about 12.05pm, where the driver who was coming back from Lagos, and heading to Imo State, parked to drop off some passengers.
The Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed the incident in a press release, said the man jumped into the vehicle after the driver had dropped off passengers and attacked him with a machete.
Ikenga said the police, same day, arrested the culprit, aged 25, and recovered one machete from him. He hails from Enugu State
Ikenga said, ‘The suspect attacked the driver of a commercial vehicle on transit from Lagos to Imo State at Okija Junction, along Onitsha/Owerri Expressway.
‘The victim parked to drop off a passenger before Lebechukwu jumped into the vehicle and macheted the driver. The driver was rushed to the hospital before he was declared dead by a medical doctor on duty.’
