All roads led to Neni in Anaocha LGA as Chief Chinedu Umeh (Alupuoaku), alongside friends and well-wishers, paid their last respects to the matriarch, the late Mrs Ogechukwu Ekwutosi Umeh.
The burial Mass for the deceased, which held at St Michael’s De Archangel Catholic Church, Neni, was presided by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor. Other concelebrants were the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Martin Anusi; and the Director of Fides Media, Rev. Fr. Robert Anagboso, among other priests and religious.
In his homily, the Bishop described the death and burial of Mrs Ogechukwu Umeh as significant, having coincided with the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The shepherd emphasized the importance of life after death and exhorted the faithful to live in the spirit and always think of the life after.
The Bishop enjoined Chief Chinedu Umeh to remain grateful to God for His faithfulness and count his blessings as God always had a reason for whatever happened to mortals.
The Bishop also commended Chief Umeh for carrying out spiritual work and material donations in honour of the late wife, Mrs Ogechukwu Umeh, noting it was a sign of one who had faith in God.
After the Holy Mass, the remains of Mrs Ogechukwu Umeh were laid to rest at her compound by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Martin Anusi.
