The League of Women Voters of Nigeria (NILOWV), Anambra State Chapter, led by its Chairperson, Dr. Ego Uzoezie, who is the immediate past Provost, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, recently paid an advocacy visit to the Rector, Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu ANSPOLY, Dr. Nneka C. Mefoh.
In her remark, the Chairperson, Dr. Uzoezie, congratulated ANSPOLY on the recent NBTE accreditation of the Institution and her programmes, and the Rector, Dr Nneka C. Mefoh, and the Management, Staff and students of the Polytechnic.
She stated that NILOWN was a voluntary, non-sectarian, non-profit organization, which, she said, was committed to engaging with all females from 18 years and above, in order to enlighten and educate them about their civic rights and duties within the context of present day Nigeria.
According to her, their mission was to educate and mobilize women to enable them to play a greater role in politics and governance in order to defend and strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.
She called for the support of the Rector and appealed for membership from willing members of the Polytechnic Community, starting with the Rector. Uzoezie pointed out that the Objective of NILOWN was to promote in all ramifications, the empowerment of girls and women, as well as accelerate the participation of women in public and corporate governance.
Responding, the Rector expressed happiness in welcoming the delegation and promised to support the NGO in their goal, stating that she would send the membership appeal message to the Polytechnic community.
The highlight of the visit included the presentation of the membership form to the Rector; as well as the vests, and group picture.
