Lawmakers Meet with Otuocha Education Zone Principals

The members of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Basic Education, led by Hon Sir Ejike Ikechukwu, recently held a meeting with the Principals of Secondary Schools under Otuocha Education Zone at the Assembly Complex with a call on them to shun indolence, absence from duty, laxity, and misconduct.

The committee called on principals of secondary schools to be more dedicated to their duty to improve the standard of basic education in the state.

Fides reports that Sir Ejike Okechukwu, who is the chairman of the committee, charged them to complement the efforts of Governor Willie Obiano in the sector by playing their roles effectively so that Anambra State would continue to be the leading state in education.

The legislator revealed that the meeting was among other things, designed to ascertain the challenges confronting basic education in Otuocha Zone, initiate ways to address them and fine tune strategies to improve the standard of education in the state.

He also admonished them against collection of illegal fees and encouraging examination malpractice, warning that defaulters would be severely punished.

Sir Ejike assured that the problems they presented to the committee would be sent to the executive arm of government for immediate attention.

In her remarks, the Director, Otuocha Education Zone, Mrs. Ogochukwu Obi, commended the committee for its efforts towards improving the standard of education in Anambra State, promising to abide by the directives.
