Lawmakers Hold Valedictory Session for Fallen Colleague, Hon Okechukwu

The chambers of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Awka, last Tuesday, witnessed members of the 7th Assembly dressed in black, to mourn their departed colleague, Hon Okechukwu Okoye, who was killed and beheaded on 21st May, 2022, by the hoodlums terrorizing the state.

It was heart wrenching as emotions enveloped many as  a valedictory session was held in  honour  of Hon Okey Okechukwu by his colleagues.

The valedictory session for Hon Okechukwu had in attendance the Anambra State deputy governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, representing Governor Chukwuma Soludo; Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, Anambra State Chief Judge; Mr Pius Udoh, former Clerk of the State Assembly, among others.

Presiding over the session, Rt Hon Uche Victor Okafor, Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, described their departed colleague as a committed legislator who was in tune with the business of the House. He consoled the family members and his constituents.

Also, Hon Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo, member representing Onitsha North II State Constituency, said the late lawmaker was unjustly killed and took out time to condole the immediate family of the deceased lawmaker, the people of Aguata LGA and the state in general, urging all to bear the loss.

In his vote of thanks, the brother of the deceased, Brother Okechukwu, thanked the State Assembly for the valedictory session while asking for justice for his late brother from the state government.
