Mr Jingi Denis, new State Coordinator, NYSC Abia, has kickstarted his visit to major stakeholders of NYSC in the state; with his visit to Mr Friday Ikpeoha, Acting Chairman, NYSC State Governing Board and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
Addressing the Board Chairman during the visit, the NYSC State Chief Executive, appreciated the Chairman for his warm reception which he said has given him a sense of belonging and have made him feel like a son in the house. He used the occasion to appreciate the NYSC board for their numerous assistance to the scheme in the past, noting that through the board, the scheme has been able to reach the state government.
He, therefore, thanked the government for the provision of a permanent state secretariat, permanent orientation camp and other assistance received in the time past, including reconstituting the state governing board.
However, the coordinator appealed for regular state subvention to be given to the board for ease of operation, the checking of erosion menace, and regular maintenance of facilities in the camp amongst other requests.
Responding, the Acting NYSC State Board Chairman, thanked Mr Jingi for the visit which he said is an indication that the coordinator recognises the place of the board in the survival of the scheme in the state. He therefore promised to take up all that he has requested to the Governor with the hope that the Governor will be seeing them as soon as the letters gets to him.
Giving a vote of thanks on behalf the scheme, Mrs Nkechi Goddy-Ekezie, Assistant Director, Head Deployment and Relocation, thanked the board chairman and his team for the quick response to the coordinator’s request for the visit despite his very tight schedule.
It will be recalled that Mr Jingi was handed over the mantle of leadership of the NYSC Abia Secretariat on Thursday 8th of April 2021.
