Worried by the small number of communicants who receive Holy Communion during Holy Mass, the oldest Catholic priest of Onitsha Archdiocese, Very Rev. Dr. Hilary Anisiobi, has warned Christians to desist from such bad attitude of attending Holy Mass without receiving the Holy Communion.
Rev. Fr. Anisiobi who clocked 95 years this year, gave the warning while addressing the faithful during a religious function at Ogbunike Community.
His words: ‘Every communicant is expected to receive Holy Communion during Holy Mass. It is worrisome to discover that 20 or 30 percent of the communicants receive the body of Christ during Holy Masses.
‘If you are not in the state of grace to receive Holy Communion, make haste and go to confession to amend your life and reconcile with God in order not to deny yourself the special grace of receiving Christ, our Lord.
‘Catholics should realize the great privilege of welcoming Christ into our lives frequently, by regular reception of Holy Communion.’
