Ihiala Market Fire: Obi Consoles Victims, Sympathises with Ihiala People

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2019 elections, Mr Peter Obi, has expressed sadness over the tragic fire incident that occurred at Nkwo Ogbe Market in Ihiala which destroyed property worth millions of naira, reports Chioma Ndife.

In a press release from his Media Office signed by Mr Val Obienyem, Obi said he was particularly saddened by the fact that many people had lost their means of livelihood to the fire incident, especially amid the challenging economic times in the country.

‘I received the shocking news of the fire outbreak at Nkwo Ogbe Market, Ihiala. It was a sad day for us, as some of our brothers and sisters are victims of this tragic incident. My heart goes out to those affected by this fire outbreak and the entire people of Ihiala. This is a sad day for us all, but together, we shall come out of stronger,’ Obi said.

He called on the Anambra State Government to launch a full scale investigation into the cause of the fire so as to prevent further occurrence; just as he also beckoned on the government and well spirited individuals to come to the aid of the victims of the fire outbreak and help them back on their feet.
