Ihiala Council Rewards Dedicated Workers

The head of Local Government Administration (HLGA) of Ihiala Local Government Council, Lady Chinyere Nkamnebe, and ten others have been rewarded with certificates of recognition and financial inducement, for dedication to duties.

In a colourful and impressive ceremony at the council’s head quarters, Tuesday July 24, four heads of departments (HODs) distinguished themselves to clinch the merit awards.
They included Mr. Sam Nwobi, HOD Finance; Mrs. Patricia Nkemdili, HOD Education and Social Development; Engr. Hyacinth Ilone, HOD Works and Dr Okwudili Obiadazie, HOD health.

Others rewarded were Mr. Nnaemeka Onuoha; Mr. Uche Onyenedum; Mrs. Evelyn Umeh; Mr. Kenechukwu Maduobu; Mrs. Felicia Nwokolo and Mrs. Augustina Esimonye.
Presenting the awards to the recipients, the Member 4 in the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Awka, Bar (Mrs) Roseline Onuzulike, described the HLGA and HODs as dedicated, committed and distinguished management staff of the council.
She equally commended the staff and management of the council for the level of transformation in the council area and urged them to be more dedicated and committed for greater result.

In her address earlier on, the HLGA, Lady Nkamnebe, had charged the awardees to be more committed to their duties, and urged those who were not recognized not to lose hope because it could be their turn in future.

The council chairman, Hon. Bar Ifeanyichukwu Odumegwu, in a chat with Fides, noted that he initiated the awards when he observed that some workers were punctual and committed to their duties, while others were not.
He said the awards would motivate and ginger more efforts for the growth and progress of the council area; adding that it would be a continuous affair.
He also stated that on his first day of arrival at the council’s secretariat, he had vowed to write his name in gold before leaving office.
He decried the working conditions of the workers, noting that it was why he started immediately to improve their working condition and welfare as a means of motivating them for increased productivity.

Speaking on behalf of the councillors, Hon Casmir Chukwunalum said there was a harmonious working relationship among all the segments of the council workers. He maintained that this was possible as a result of the cooperation of the workers, noting that all the councillors were in total support of the awards ceremony.

In her own remarks, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Ihiala Local Government Chapter, Comrade Amaka Asoegbu, commended the efforts of the council chairman in infrastructural development and staff welfare in the council area.
She observed that the awards would serve as a good lesson to those who did not come to work, urging all to be steadfast and dedicated to their duties.
The highpoints of the occasion were the presentation of certificates to the awardees.
