Anambra State Government has presented certificate of recognition to Igwe Ikechuchukwu Nwafili as the Traditional ruler of Akili Ogidi in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Our correspondent reports that the presentation ceremony took place at the office of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Greg Obi.
Igwe Ikechukwu Nwafili is now to be addressed as Igwe Ogidiga 1 of Akili Ogidi.
Presenting the certificate on behalf of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Greg Obi, Mr. Gerald Akaeze said having satisfied the necessary requirements as contained in the Customary laws of the State and Traditional rulers Act Section 4, 5, 6 1981, Governor Willie Obiano decided to acknowledge his position as the Traditional Ruler of the Community by certifying him worthy of the position.
Responding Igwe Nwafili expressed happiness that at last, government has recognized him as the Monarch of Akili Ogidi, having scored the highest number of votes during the election as was conducted by the Community.
Igwe Nwafili said that he is ready to work with every member of the Community to ensure growth and development of the town.
The President General of the Community, Comrade Mike Chukwusaa, thanked God that the Community now has a Traditional ruler after staying without one for over thirty years.
In their various reactions, a member of the Igwe’s cabinet, Chief Godwin Obiora, another member of the Community, Dr. Ifeany Uzor and the President of Akili Ogidi Youths, Mr. Chukwuma Nnamdi appreciated Governor Obiano for entrenching peace in the society especially their Community, and pledged to work with the Monarch for the betterment of the Akili Ogidi.
