The new Chief Whip of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Dr Sir Pete Ibida, representing Njikoka 11 State Constituency, has received royal blessings and endorsement from his traditional ruler, Igwe Maxi Ike Oliobi, Owelle of Nimo.
Ibida will be contesting for the Federal House of Representatives for Njikoka, Anaocha & Dunukofia Federal Constituency after two successful tenures in the state assembly.
In his remarks during his visit to the palace of Igwe Oliobi, February 26, Ibida who is also a member of the Owelle’s cabinet, praised the Owelle of Nimo for encouraging him on the next step he was taking to represent his people in the Federal House, adding that the yearning for that was as a result of what he described as his unprecedented achievements within his constituency as a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The traditional ruler, in his response, described Ibida as an articulate and fearless lawmaker who had done much for his constituency. Igwe Oliobi said that owing to Ibida’s excellent report card, it was only logical that he should take the next step to serve his people in a higher capacity.
One of the chieftains of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, who accompanied Chief Ibida, Ichie Ifeanyi Egbutu, APGA Chairman, Nimo Ward 2, expressed delight at the achievements of Ibida in the areas of constituency projects and human capital development within the Umuowelle, Njikoka 2 constituency. He remarked that going up to the Federal House would bring more democracy dividends to the entire Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha that make up the Federal Constituency.
