I Will Make a Difference in Aguata

By Jude Atupulazi

A House of Representatives hopeful for Aguata Federal Constituency, Engr Dom Okafor (KSM), has assured the people of the constituency of innovative representation with added impetus if he is given the mandate to represent them.
In an interactive session with all the chairmen of town unions in Aguata under the auspices of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Engr Okafor lamented the neglect the federal constituency had suffered in the past, leading people to wonder if Aguata really had a representative in the Green Chambers.
Okafor assured the people that aside the normal infrastructure and other dividends of democracy, he would greatly impact on the people through human capacity development.
Said he, ‘I will organise Town Hall Meetings where the people will gather and articulate their needs and what is important for them and I will lobby to ensure they are included in the federal or state budget as the case may be. I will ensure that our youths are given the necessary tools and empowerment, as well as mentoring that will make them excel in their field of endeavours and ensure that they become role models for our upcoming generations.’
‘It is unfortunate that those most of our youths look up to as role models fall short of the characteristics and pedigree our youths should emulate. All this will change with my representation,’ Engr Okafor assured.
Okafor recounted his experiences in the Rotary Club where he had served as President of Port Harcourt Club and an Assistant District Governor for the Rotary Club International, District 9140.
‘As the President of my chapter, I was adjudged the best in the entire District 9140 made up of the 11 states in the Southeast and South-South. These are because of my dedication and commitment,’ he stated.
This is even as he charged ASATU, Aguata not to be discouraged or feel that what they were doing was a waste of time, being that he had served Obiuno Igboukwu, his community, as secretary, as well as the entire Igboukwu as assistant secretary. He noted that there was dignity in service.
In their response the chairmen praised Engr Okafor for presenting a different agenda from others, and assured him of the support of ASATU Aguata.
Okafor later made a donation to the group to aid them in their job.
