The CEO of Capital Oil and Gas Ind. Ltd, Dr. Ifeanyi Patrick Uba has said that he is in the senatorial race for the interest of the Igbos and the entire humanity.
Dr. Uba, who is vying to represent Anambra South Senatorial Zone in the 2019 Senatorial Election, under the platform of Young Progressives Party (YPP), stated this when he hosted the leaders of the Catholic Laity at his Umuanuka, Otolo Nnewi Country home, recently.
The Nnewi, Anambra State- born oil magnet and philanthropist par excellence, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba on the occasion, reaffirmed his commitment to give the good people of Anambra South Senatorial Zone and Igbos in general, purposeful and effective representation in the Senate.
Fides gathered that Uba, who has been described as a good and devout Catholic, is singlehandedly building a giant cathedral with 8-floor tower for the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi.
According to Uba, the roofing of the cathedral building is expected to be completed by January, 2019.
Dr. Uba, who is also the owner of FC Ifeanyi Uba International Stadium in Nnewi, Anambra State, the first and only of its kind in the state, had empowered many in the fields of sports and other endeavours.
Various laity leaders, who spoke on the occasion, extolled Ifeanyi Uba for his magnanimous philanthropy and goodwill which they said had no boundary.
They commended him for his exemplary Catholic spirit which is evident in the many youths who have benefited from his foundation and sports venture, as well as in the giant Catholic Cathedral he is single handedly building for Nnewi Catholic Diocese.
According to the Catholic Laity and other well-meaning individuals, Dr. Ifeanyi Patrick Uba, fondly known as Ebubechukwu-uzo Nnewi, is the best person for Anambra South Senatorial Zone.
The laity went on tours of Uba’s home parish, St Peter Clever’s Parish, Otolo, Nnewi and the giant Nnewi Catholic cathedral building at the roofing level, and saw the progress of the work for themselves.
Speaking on the occasion, the immediate past president of Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria, Awka Diocese (CLCNAD) Comrade Emma Ezeokafor, urged the laity to ensure that they elect morally sound people who had proven integrity into various political positions.
Comrade Ezeokafor, who is the YPP candidate for Aguata 2 Constituency, re-assured of all his commitment to give the people of Aguata, God fearing, people-oriented, integral, purposeful and creditable representation they would be very proud of, if he is given the mandate to represent Aguata II Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
He noted that time has come for the masses to send people that should be accountable to them into leadership positions.
In his remarks, the president, CLCNAD, Hon. Joseph Igwebuike, described Ezeokafor, who had creditably served the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria, Awka Diocese, Catholic Men’s Organisation, Awka Diocese and Catholic Youth Organisation (CYON), Awka Diocese as former presidents at various periods as well as stood out as a reliable community leader, and Dr. Uba as credible persons for the positions they are aspiring for.
