Ahead of the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State, an Umuomaku-born frontline aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress, Dr. Hygers Ifeanyi Igwebuike, has restated plans towards making Anambra the center of excellence.

Dr. Igwebuike who spoke to Fides recently during an interview, said that Anambra under his watch would be a safe haven for investment opportunities through the adoption of what he called a tactical decision that would bring a long-lasting solution to all the security challenges and other social vices currently threatening citizens and residents alike.

‘Making Anambra a centre and hub of excellence is still very possible,’ he remarked, stating that there would be a complete overhaul of the existing security outfits to strengthen them to meet with the 21st century digitalized security operations and attract the attention of foreign investors and consequently secure the life and property of Anambrarians.

He maintained that the promotion of indigenous talents and industry had been enshrined in his blue print in order to bring about the desired transformation and raise the standard of living of all persons.

‘There abound lots and lots of indigenous talent, potentials and local industries that can be revamped to position our dear state in the world map. We are going to work out modalities of harvesting these great potentials within our people, rather than having them shine in other places.

He cautioned the people against electing a leader that would take the state many steps back again, noting that a new brand of experience in socio-cultural, technological, economical, infrastructural cum intellectual development was necessary now for a more prosperous state.

He regretted that Anambra with all its great potentials had been stagnated over time as a result of inappropriate management and deployment of human and capital resources.

He said a renowned technocrat like himself held the magic wand to put the state on the right track and restore its lost glory.

The Estate Management guru who was the immediate past leader of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Archdiocese of Lagos, bemoaned the state of roads in most interior parts of the state with arable lands for agriculture, and promised that his administration would give attention to rural road construction that would promote food security.

Dr. Igwebuike, also a Knight of St. John International, in the Catholic Church, said that farmers and herdsmen clashes, as well as inter communal crisis and leadership tussles that had brought untold hardship, loss of life and property in some parts of the state, would be tackled to ensure that normalcy returned to such communities.

On the issue of youth restiveness, he said his administration would develop adequate programmes that would engage youths and deploy them in various fields. He noted that such engagement would ensure that the great potentials residual in the youth would not only be harnessed but also effectively utilized for the repositioning of the state.

He described women as consistent social change agents and explained that more responsibility would be assigned to women under his watch to enable them to showcase their potentials.
