Ndi Anambra have been urged to support the efforts of the state government to transform Anambra into a smart mega city state to meet the demands of the twenty-first century.
Speaking to newsmen in Awka, the Managing Director of Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, (ANSAA), Chief Jude Emecheta, said this would expand the socio-economic opportunities in the state and accelerate industrial development.
Chief Emecheta noted that already, Governor Willie Obiano’s Administration had laid a strong foundation for the mega city state with the provision of critical infrastructure, including the International Airport at Umueri, Convention Centre and Stadium facilities in Awka; as well as the house numbering and street naming project.
He explained that house numbering and street naming were important components of a smart mega city state as they promoted e-commerce and e-transportation through easy and proper identification of houses during security, disaster and medical emergencies, parcel delivery and other social services.
While stating that the programme was backed by all necessary legislations, Chief Emecheta said the exercise would cut across the entire state, including rural areas, and that the Agency had already enumerated about two hundred and fifty thousand houses and would demarcate the houses into residential, commercial and industrial areas for easy identification and access.
He expressed optimism that the incoming administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo would consolidate on the achievements of Governor Obiano and urged the people to key into his policy of promoting the use of made in Anambra products.
Also speaking, the National Patron and member of Board of Trustees of Anambra Demand Soludo, Chief Henry Igboeli, said the resolve of the Governor-Elect to promote made in Anambra products would accelerate economic growth across the state.
Chief Igboeli explained that the policy would attract more investors in various sectors that would increase the state revenue profile and the Gross Domestic Products and provide permanent solutions to the challenges of youth unemployment, while making the state self-sufficient and self-reliant without relying on oil revenue.
He commended ADS for launching the Anambra Development Solution Initiative Cooperative Scheme that would equip the youths with necessary skills to increase their creativity and productivity and urged other groups to initiate similar schemes to help the incoming-Governor to achieve its vision
