Host Community Lauds NYSC, Seeks More Cooperation

Ogada, a host community to the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC Cross River state Orientation Camp, has applauded the scheme for maintaining a cordial relationship with the community.

The commendation was given when the State Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Nakamba led some management staff and heads of collaborating agencies on a courtesy visit to the Clan head of the community. They were glad that the scheme and the community have never been in a loggerhead since the camp was situated at the community.

In his remarks, the Clan Head, His Royal Highness Gabriel Ibingha said the visit is a sign of respect and love the Coordinator has for the community. He stressed that Ogada is most hospitable community in Obubra Local Government Area.

The Clan head who spoke through the National President of National Congress of Etobha Ch’ Ogada in Ogada clan, Elder Patrick Obasse maintained that the synergy is beginning to work. He said, ‘The fact that you left your exalted office to come and visit us means a lot for us. Occasionally see what you can do to see that the community is always remembered. All we need is for us to feel your presence,’.

Also speaking, Legal adviser to the Clan assured the Coordinator of a peaceful coexistence between the NYSC scheme and the community. He requested that the Coordinator should Endeavour to gainfully engage the youths of the community who are graduates. He said this is in line with Nigerian Local Content Act. He appreciated the leadership style of the Coordinator and his prompt response in fulfilling his promises.

Earlier, the Coordinator apologized for visiting late which he said was as result of unforeseen circumstances emanating from the COVID-19 pandemic. He appreciated them for their support to the activities of the scheme, urging them not to relent.
