About fifty beneficiaries who were selected from local government areas across Anambra State were recently empowered in digital entrepreneur, capacity building and basic computer training, during a 3-Day empowerment training organized by the member representing Aguata Federal Constituency, Hon Chukwuma Umeoji.
The training which was on Capacity Building, Entrepreneurship and Basic Computer Skills, held at Ezinifite Town Hall, Ezinifite, Aguata LGA, Anambra State, from February 4-6, had the National Biotechnology Development Agency, Abuja, in conjunction with Ree Engineering Ltd, as the trainers.
Digipreneur Hub led by Engr Ifeanyi Aniagoh, at the training, took the participants through the Certified Digipreneur Programme (CDP) 1.0.
Fides gathered that the CDP 1.0, as a course, exposed the trainees to capacity building, self-development, value reorientation, rudiments of entrepreneurship, master classes for digipreneur, basic digital skills and ways to make money online.
Each of the beneficiaries was given a brand new lap top computer by Hon Umeoji to enable them to practice what they learnt and be self-reliant.
In an interview with Fides, the facilitator, Hon Chukwuma Umeoji, said the training was organized to broaden the knowledge of the young ones in the modern use of Computer Technology.
He noted that since the world had gone digital, young entrepreneurs ought to rely more on technology to showcase and sell their entrepreneurial skills, as well as business transactions. According to him, to engage in digital entrepreneur effectively, one ought to be well informed and equipped in the use of computer.
Umeoji expressed conviction that the training would produce experts in advanced technology and computer skills who would impart the knowledge into others, as well as become job and wealth creators.
He advocated for vast inclusion of basic modern computer skills in the primary school curriculum in Nigeria so as to enable the young ones to have basic computer knowledge from the basics.
On why the beneficiaries of the basic computer skills and entrepreneur was extended to other local government areas in Anambra, the Aguata federal legislator said it was in line with the global technology, hence, the need for the participants to be selected from all parts of Anambra State in order to give them a sense of belonging as Anambra people.
Meanwhile, Hon Umeoji has commended the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Dr Willie Obiano, for the priority, which, he said, the governor gave to security and welfare of the people.
According to the federal representative, Obiano, who was the governor that had empowered the youth the most in Nigeria, had created enabling environment through provision of security, prompt payment of workers’ salaries and various appointive positions he gave to the youths.
In an interview with the press, one of the trainees, Cynthia Nwakuba, a native of Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA, said she was delighted to have been one of those trained and empowered in the course of the training.
On her take home from the training, Nwakuba said she learnt how to make money online via content, web development, as well as how to become a successful digital entrepreneur and a successful investor.
Pointing out that the lap top she received would enable her to market more of her goods online, Nwakuba appreciated Hon Umeoji for the opportunity.
Another participant in the Capacity Building, Entrepreneurship and Basic Computer Skills, Mr Fidelis Ezeiruaku of Nkpologwu, Aguata LGA, said the training broadened his knowledge in social media influencing, content and copy writing.
Mr Ezeiruaku, who the outcome of the training was more than his expectations, described Hon Umeoji as an extraordinary legislator who had the interest of his people at heart. They both prayed for God’s continuous blessings and sustenance on him.
