Holy Trinity Feast: Zone Raises Funds for Evangelical Bus

Holy Trinity Zone of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, Anambra State, on Sunday June 16, 2019 joined other catholic faithful across the world to celebrate the feast of Holy Trinity. The feast was an opportunity for the zone to raise funds for the purchase of her evangelical bus estimated at about 30 million naira.

The feast held at St. Patrick’ Cathedral, Awka and organized by Holy Trinity Zone which was made up of faithful from Ontisha Arch diocese and Nnewi Diocese for Catholic faithful in St. Patrick’s cathedral, Awka and beyond.

Fides gathered that the Holy Trinity Zone was among the newly created six zones carved out from St. Joseph’s zone which hitherto was the only zone for non-indigenes in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka.

In his homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor traced the origin of the solemnity of the Holy Trinity which started during the 8th century. He explained that the solemnity remains a mystery that was beyond human comprehension, sighting the experience of St. Augustine who tried to use his human wisdom to unravel the mystery but became more confused in his quest.

Bishop Ezeokafor who was represented by the Cathedral Administrator, Rev. Fr. Matthew Attensey beckoned on all Christians to emulate the unity and oneness which signifies the Holy Trinity as they carry on with their responsibilities both in the church and beyond.

He commended Holy Trinity zone for organizing the feast, saying that the celebration which was meant for all Christian faithful would enable them to have a better and comprehensive understanding of the Holy Trinity. He maintained that such understanding was necessary in the lives of Catholics as it relates with the various things they do.

In his remark, the chairman of the occasion, Hon. Arinze Okafor emphasized the need for members of the zone to operate in unity and oneness in all their engagements.

Hon. Okafor who is Governor Obiano’s special Assistant on Political Matters noted that the members of the zone can only work in unity by emulating and working in accordance with the direction of the three persons in one God. He urged all invited guests to support members of the zone to actualize their dreams of purchasing an evangelical bus, noting that contributing towards such course was an aspect of evangelism.

Speaking at the event, the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano appreciated the catholic faithful for their continuous prayers to those in positions of authority saying that the prayers have kept them going.

Governor Obiano who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobe reassured the commitment of the state government in supporting mission institutions to achieve optimally irrespective of the dwindling economy.

Also speaking, the Senator Representing Anambra Central, Senator Uche Ekwunife reaffirmed her commitment towards offering effective representation and thanked the people for their massive support which she received from them during the electioneering period.

In an address of welcome, the Zonal Leader, Bro. Emmanuel Okeke, disclosed the motive towards the celebration and maintained that it wasn’t meant for members of the zone alone but for all Christians. He pinpointed the various activities which the zone had created out since its creation.

The Holy Trinity feast which had some cultural displays and other performances as its highlights, was graced by various government functionaries in Anambra State and others form different walks of life.
