At the blessing and opening of the Chapel of Adoration, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Isuofia, on 10 January 2021, the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Most. Rev. Peter Ebele Okpaleke, announced that the chapel was the most unique and beautiful chapel in Ekwulobia Diocese.
While thanking the donor, Mr. Damian Ozoemena Nwankwo, for his love and dedication to the growth of the church, the Bishop told Christians to focus their mind on the things of the Lord which could enrich their catholic faith and belief. He told the parishioners that the chapel was a place for restoration and breakthrough. During the blessing of the chapel, the bishop reminded them that they should avoid all forms of distractions while at the chapel because it has now become a dwelling place for God. Earlier in his homily, the bishop harped on the essence of baptism; adding that baptism leads to the salvation of humans.
In their address presented by the Parish Pastoral Council, the council welcomed the Bishop, indigenous priests, guests and well wishers to the parish. The address explained how the parish came into lime light and the struggles so far. The address thanked the state government for handing over the schools to the mission. The address appealed to individuals who could assist the parish in building a parish hall and a secretariat. The address thanked the parish priest for his wisdom, understanding and ability to restore peace which has helped the catholic community structurally and spiritually.
In his remarks, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Patrick Nnaemeka Okeke, thanked God for the success of the event. He said that he was grateful for the human instrument God used to bless the parish with a Chapel and Grotto.
‘We thanked God for the people he used to bless the parish with a place of worship. If they donate and give to the church, they are also helping the poor masses that would have ordinarily contributed towards it. We pray that the Lord blesses them and gives them the Grace to fulfill their purpose on earth’ he added
Speaking to Fides, the donor, Mr. Damian Ozoemena Nwankwo, said that he started giving to God by providing generator to the church. He said that he was so passionate about building a place for God and for that reason; he became inspired to build a Chapel for God.
‘I decided to build a place for God long ago. While building this chapel, I did not want to bother myself on the cost because my God deserves the best and most expensive dwelling place’ he added
In his remarks, the Architect and Engineer of the chapel, Mr. Donatus Uganeme (CEO, Solugans and Associates Construction Company), said Mr. Nwankwo gave him the specifications that he wanted for the chapel. He said that Mr. Nwankwo wanted to build something unique and beautiful for God. He added that his construction company worked hard to achieve the completion of the Chapel within its shortest time.
