Herdsmen Kill Eight Catholic Parishioners, Injure Five in Benue

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have reportedly killed 8 parishioners of Our Lady of Consolation Quasi Parish Agan in the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, Benue State, North Central Nigeria.

According to information made available to the Media Office of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria by Rev. Fr. Utume, the unknown gunmen attacked the Sabongida area of Agan in Kuma Local Government in the early hours of Sunday, May 23 2021.

Five persons were reported to have sustained injuries from gunshots and are presently receiving treatments in one of the government hospitals.

Fr Utume stated: “In the early hours of this morning at 1:0am, Fulani herdsmen in their unique style of executing their callous act, attacked the Sabongida area of Agan and brutally killed eight parishioners of Our Lady of Consolation Quasi Parish Agan.

Five persons sustained injuries from gunshots and are presently receiving treatments in one of the government hospitals. The reality of sleepless nights is yet to depart from the people of Agan; continue to include the parishioners and students of Our lady of Consolation Agan in your prayers”.
