It was a bad Easter celebration for fun seekers at an eatery close to the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, on Easter Sunday after they were robbed by gunmen.
It was gathered that the gunmen stormed Sophia Fast Foods and dispossessed the people of their phones and left without harming anyone.
‘They simply dispossessed all customers and staff members of the eatery of their phones and left the area without any challenge, despite an armoured car and security personnel positioned in the area,’ a source told Fides
A Facebook user, Iyke Orji, who confirmed that nobody was killed or wounded, said even the new police armoured tank that Governor Soludo stationed at Oko Police Station with new policemen failed to repel them.
‘They came to Sophia Fast Foods, Oko, and collected all the phones of people eating there. They thereafter set fire in the frontage of the fast food.
‘Sophia Fast Foods just opened a new branch in Ekwulobia and people are thinking if it was a calculated attempt by competitors,’ Orji said.
Meanwhile the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the command was not aware of any such attack.
Ikenga who spoke to newsmen, called on anyone involved to provide timely information to the Command through their helplines to enable the Command to get to work, even as he also called for timely tip offs, as, according to him, such tip offs helped the Command to counter criminal elements.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, CP Echeng Echeng, had before the Easter Celebration assured of security to all citizens, residents and visitors, during the period.
