Botanical name of Banana in Agric Science is Musa Specie. It is grown commercially in West Indies, Central America and Cameroon. Banana tolerate low temperature, well distributed rainfall and well-drained fertile soul. It does well in subtropical and humid lowland of the tropics including Nigeria.

Propagation is vegetative from suckers or bits. Suckers are small banana plants about 1.2m tall more or less above the ground level with leaves. Bits are parts of large corms that have been divided radially after the aerial parts have been removed. Banana contains three natural sugars namely sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. Banana gives instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. It is good to eat banana fruits to provide enough energy for a strenuous work. Enough intake of banana can help to overcome or prevent ill-health, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

It helps to control depression. This is because it contains the type of protein that helps one to relax and improve the mood. The vitamin B6 it contains help to regulate blood glucose levels which can affect your mood. It is high in iron and thus can stimulate production of hemoglobin in the blood.

The banana fruit rich in potassium yet low in salt makes it good to beat down blood pressure. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce risk of blood pressure and stroke. High fiber content of banana helps to control constipation thus restoring normal bowel action. One of the quickest ways of curing a hang-over is to make a banana milk-stake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and with the help of honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels while the milk soothes and rehydrates the body system. Banana being high in vitamin B help to calm the nervous system. It can help to control ulcers hence it is a dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture. It neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of high- potassium banana snack. According to research in the New-England Journal of Medicine, eating banana as part of a regular diet can help to control stroke. Banana really is a natural remedy for many sicknesses as it contains much vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber and so on for your sound health. Banana can be described as a therapy and natural medicine for many illnesses. “Therefore you should grow and eat more banana to reduce your hospital bills. All Nigerians not only the adults but must include the youths who should farm to fight hunger, starvation and unemployment”.
