The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Dr Willie Obiano and the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone, Senator Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah, have donated in support of the on-going one-storey secretariat building project of the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria, Awka Diocese (CLCNAD).

The duo made the donation at the 2019 Annual Seminar /Workshop of Awka Diocesan Laity Council, which doubled with fund raising for the completion of the Laity Council Secretariat, and featured installation of new ambassadors for the Council and appreciation of some distinguished laity, held from September 20-22, 2019.

Speaking at the event which was held at Archbishop A.K. Obiefuna Retreat, Pastoral and Conference Centre, Okpuno, Anambra State, on Sept 22, Gov Obiano, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Religious Matters, Sir Anselm Okafor (KSJI), restated the commitment of his administration to a working partnership with the Church.

Also speaking, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who was represented by the YPP Candidate for Aguata II Constituency in the 2019 House of Assembly Election, Comrade Emma Ezeokafor, thanked God for the vibrant and formidable Laity Council of Awka Catholic Diocese.

He appreciated the laity for their votes, which gave him landslide victory at the February 2019 Senatorial Election, under the platform of YPP.

Ubah, who had earlier fulfilled some of his promises to the Laity Council and the major arms of the Council, assured the laity of quality and human face representation in the Senate.

According to him, he would fulfill all the campaign promises he made to the Catholic Laity.

On his part, Comrade Emma Ezeokafor, who is the immediate past president of CLCNAD, urged the laity to at all times, ignite the light of faith handed over to them, and live up to the demands of their calling as salt of the earth and light of the world.
