Godwin Maduka Attends Flag Off of Awka Catholic Diocesan Laity Week

A leading gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Godwin Maduka, last Sunday attended the official flag-off of the Awka Catholic Diocesan Laity Week which was performed by the Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor, at St Anthony’s Catholic Church, Enugwu Ukwu. He was represented by the State Coordinator of Dr Godwin Maduka Destination Train, 2021, Hon. Michael-Joe Onwudinjo.

In his address delivered by Hon. Onwudinjo, Dr. Maduka congratulated the Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese for the recent creation of Ekwulobia Diocese and then urged the entire body of Christ (Laity) to be always loyal and good followers of the teachings of Jesus Christ, especially during the current Lenten Season.

He emphasized the need for uprightness in their dealings with others and to strive to live in peace and harmony with their neighbours.

He advised the members of the Laity to embark on retreat and reevaluate the problems of society as most of them, such as armed robbery, kidnapping, prostitution, among others, were products of poor parental upbringing of the offenders. He also emphasized the need to have good and God fearing people at the helm of governance, especially in Anambra State.

He equally extolled the Awka Diocesan Laity Council for their commitment and immense roles in the propagation of the Christian faith in Awka Diocese and in society in general.

While praying God to continue to strengthen them in the task of evangelization, he also wished all present a successful Laity week, even as he equally used the opportunity to inform the audience about the forthcoming free medical consultations by Dr Godwin Maduka and his medical team for patients suffering from spinal cord, prostrate and hip ailments in April, 2020.
‘The exact dates and venue will be publicly announced before the commencement of the programme,’ he said.
