It was a glorious return to the bosom of the Lord for late Lady Regina Ukamaka Chiegboka (LSM,JP) as Prefect Emeritus, Sacred Congregation For Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, Vatican city, His Eminence Francis Cardinal Arinze concelebrated with the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev Valerian Okeke (represented by Very Rev Fr Basil Ekwunife),Bishop of Awka Diocese,Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor and more than 35 Catholic priests in a solemn burial mass and rites of passage at St Patrick’s Catholic Church,Isuofia on Monday,7th January 2019 after which her remains were committed to mother earth at their family chapel.
While delivering a homily, Cardinal Arinze condoled with and commended the husband and Chief mourner of the deceased, Chief (Sir) T.O Chiegboka,her children and entire family members for committing all necessary resources in ensuring that their mother survived even as God’s will for her prevailed at last. Lady Regina he pointed out, lived a humane,charitable and exemplary Christian life which will guarantee her sympathy before the Lord.
The Cardinal reminded all that it is appointed unto man to die one day and thereafter account for our stewardship before God.
Speaking on behalf of the entire family, Sir Perpetus Chiegboka(KSM) expressed gratitude to the Cardinal for his special love for the Family and for taking pains to preside over the Mass. He also thanked the priests, Knights, traditional rulers, members of the religious and other numerous sympathisers and dignitaries for commiserating with them.
The late Lady Regina Ukamaka Chiegboka was born on Assumption of Mary Day,15th August 1946 and died on All Saints Day on November 1st 2018,age 72.
She is survived by her husband, Chief Sir T.O Chiegboka, many grand Children and children namely, Perpetus, Ogoo, Ngozi, Paschal, Ekene and Chinaza.
Others are, Callistus, Everistus, Ndioma and Gini.
May her gentle soul rest in peace. Amen
